We Are Creatures Of Habits And Routines
“We are, all of us, creatures of habit, and when the seeming necessity for schooling ourselves in new ways ceases to exist, we fall naturally and easily into the manner and customs which long usage has implanted ineradicably within us.”
This famous quote by Edgar Rice Burroughs perfectly illustrates that what we practice we become. And if we want to become successful and live our best life we need to master successful habits and stay away from those that block our progress. That’s why in today’s post I’m sharing with you 12 powerful mini-routines that have the potential to drastically change your life, accelerate your success and boost your daily happiness!
Reflective Routine
A mini reflective routine is designed to help you connect with your present self, re-evaluate your life and rethink your current circumstances so that you know what should be done in order to upgrade your results and improve your life satisfaction.
Giving yourself time and space for reflection will help you to make better plans, organize your life around your long-term goals and align your actions with what you want to achieve and experience in life.
- review your goals to make sure they are aligned with your life and to ensure you’re still on the right route
- review your plans and actions to make sure they’re in alignment with your long-term goals and vision for both your business/work and life
- identify the habits that sabotage your potential and identify the steps to get rid of them
- identify successful habits to develop
Healthy Nutrition Routine
Starting eating healthier tomorrow because today you’re eating out? Reducing dangerously high sugar intake after the cookie you’re eating right now? Thinking about increasing your fluid intake but that would mean going to the bathroom a couple of times a day and you don’t have time for that. Trying to save money but eating UberEats it’s just too convenient? Well, maybe it’s convenient but it’s definitely not healthy neither economical.
Healthy nutrition is the key to living a long, active, healthy and happy life. we all know that, yet we still make endless excuses not to adopt healthy eating habits. We’re making the whole transition into a mindful and healthy eater so difficult. While it’s pretty easy, money-saving and can be quite fun if you’re willing to unlock your creative potential and engage with some cooking extravaganza once in a while.
- plan your meal in advance
- create a healthy grocery shopping list
- buy local and season food
- READ food labels
- avoid high-processed and junk food
- opt for keto desserts (extremely effective)
Personal Finance Routine
If you want to manage your money wisely especially during the economic chaos we’re currently experiencing you need to constantly expand your financial knowledge, focus on developing good money habits while getting rid of poor financial behaviors, and train your self-discipline (and self-control) muscle.
There’s no way your financial situation will magically improve without you making the right financial decisions and taking intentional action on your financial goals. Your financial health is in your hands, which is a good thing if you dare to take the responsibility for your own life. If that’s your case, this means that you’re already on the right path - the path to your financial freedom. Cleaning & Decluttering Routine
According to multiple studies clutter negatively affects our health and wellbeing in many different ways. First of all, clutter can trigger the release of the stress hormone cortisol, which makes it more difficult to relax, both physically and mentally. Second, messy surroundings make you disorganized, disoriented, and distracted. Third, clutter steals your money because I’m pretty sure you’ve paid for most of the things you own. And finally, a dirty environment can trigger serious health problems like asthma, allergies, and eczema. And I don’t mean ONLY physical clutter but any type of clutter.
Clutter has many forms and dimensions. It can manifest itself in physical form when your floordrobe gives you anxiety, a digital form when after installing another app your smartphone got slower, an emotional form when you lose control over racing thought and unwanted memories that pop up like crazy, broken but fixable clutter (oh, my gosh I hate it), a sentimental clutter (I don’t want it but I’m unable to get rid of it)… and many others.
Regardless of which kind of clutter is giving you anxiety, kills your productivity, ruins your flow and decrease your energy levels, steals your focus, you need to get rid of it ASAP. And you need to do it regularly, considering the fact that clutter is some kind of magnetic power of attraction.
Planning Routine
The secret to a healthy, productive, and balanced life is to plan everything in advance. This simple strategy will make you confident that you’re focusing on the right things instead of falling into the urgency trap, or even worse, the trap of procrastination. Not to mention that, if you plan your day according to The Rule of 3 you can be sure that you have enough time for family and friends, “me time”, exercise and hobbies, or even side hustle.
Without planning you’re going to make the wrong decisions and take the wrong action that not only will not get you any closer to achieving your goals but also will make you waste your valuable time. And that’s not an option if you consider yourself a productive and effective person.
With an effective plan, on the other hand, you’re able to make the best possible use of your time, manage your energy levels and focus on what pays you the most instead of making everything equally important. So the choice, in this case, is pretty simple. You should PLAN! And developing a simple planning routine that will help you to maximize your time, set the right priorities, and stay on track with your goals.

Mindfulness Routine
Being mindful means this particular use of attention and awareness on purpose to experience the authenticity of the present moment without judging it. It’s a personal journey to self-discovery or simply put, a way to redirect your focus to the present moment without judging it. Because believe it or not, but the present moment is the only one that exists.
Creating mindful moments during your spare time is an amazing way to destress, relax and connect with your inner self. And the best thing about it: being in the here and now as being fully present is easier than you think. You don’t need special tools or extended knowledge to truly achieve mindfulness. You also don’t need to sit in the full lotus position and meditate for hours to increase life’s meaning.
There are a million ways to be fully present and taking a coffee break is one of them! So don’t overcomplicate it, just take a coffee (or tea) during your work break and really taste that coffee with your five senses. Let yourself experience all that this cup of coffee has to offer. Be truly present. Be mindful. Create a sensory experience that you will never forget. „Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Simplifying & Prioritizing Routine
“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.” Even though this famous quote from Albert Einstein was closely referred to the science, it works well in pretty much every sphere of life. Because by simplifying your tasks you avoid unnecessary actions, decision fatigue and complexity trap – the famous three behaviors that effectively block success and prevent you from living your best life.
By keeping things simple you avoid adding unnecessary work to your already jam-packed schedule and wasting your time on “mediocre” activities that do not move you closer to your long-term goals. As a result, you can focus on what’s truly important and what pays you the most.
Simplicity is the key to a successful life both professional and personal. You want to focus on taking action, not on planning on endless possibilities and overthinking unimportant details that are not really making any difference. Only by taking action, you can create results.
- prioritize your tasks using The Eisenhower Box
- simplify your actions using The Pareto Principle

Getting Outside Your Comfort Zone Routine
Life is more than survival. Life is a fascinating experiment and can be a true adventure. But to make the most of this adventure you need to challenge yourself, take (a calculated) risk and venture deep outside your comfort zone. If you choose to spend your whole life within your comfort zone you will settle for mediocrity. This is not an option if you’re a highly motivated and ambitious person.
While living a life of average is pretty safe and comfortable it’s completely deprived of growth, adventure and satisfaction. And you are here to accelerate your personal growth and success! That’s why the next mini routine you should develop is the „getting outside your comfort zone” routine!
Stepping outside your comfort zone, pushing your boundaries and making yourself uncomfortable regularly (every day) is more beneficial than you think. Because if you learn (train yourself) to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable you will eliminate your fear of failure and also create a magic momentum that is the key to your success. Not to mention that you will find the courage to do new and exciting things that you’ve always wanted to do but you were too afraid of even trying.
So think about all these things that you’ve always wanted to do but you were too afraid of even trying, then make your discomfort list, create your plan of action and then take action! Venture deep outside your comfort zone, increase your self-confidence and boost your belief you make things happen. Success is in your hands!

Mental Wellbeing Routine
Taking good care of your mental health is a form of self-care, self-respect and self-love. It’s not being selfish, it’s making yourself a priority so that you feel more in control of your emotions and your life.
The way you feel about yourself and your current situation affects your entire life starting with your mental wellbeing and ending with your career prospects. So if you want to increase your chances of success in life and your career you need to take care of your mind and your mental health. And what better way to do that than by adopting a mini-mental wellbeing routine, right?
- getting in touch with your feelings instead of ignoring or suppressing them
- maintaining a healthy relationship with the real you
- cultivating Mindfulness techniques to feel grounded and connected with your authentic self
- Journaling
- practising gratitude to be more grateful, appreciate life more and maintain a balance between giving and receiving
Move Your Butt Routine
Move your butt routine is slightly different from your workout routine. Because while exercising regularly helps you to build muscle, increase your physical strength and stay fit, working out for an hour a day it’s not enough to maintain your health especially if you live a sedentary lifestyle, which most people do.
Sitting all day long is a prescription for a chronic disease or even early death. Don’t risk it… just move your butt once in a while, change your energy and improve your blood circulation. Ditch a risky sedentary lifestyle with a little daily movement. Develop a „getting up from your chair and walk around a little during the days” routine to live a longer, healthier and happier life!
- do a little stretch
- walk instead of driving
- do a little dance during your work-breaks
Life Admin Routine
Last but definitely not least mini routine I highly recommend you to develop is „life admin”. If you’re not familiar with his concept, managing a „life admin” basically means scheduling a block of time (an hour or even a day) dedicated to accomplishing admin type of tasks that you need to get done but you’ve been actively avoiding.
This may seem contradictory but organizing your finances, doing little errands, responding to emails, making important phone calls, or even book an appointment for a Health Check is a form of self-care. Because the things you know you need to get done but we’ve been avoiding will not disappear magically. The opposite is actually the case: if you’re not completing things off your to-do list they will only accumulate in the back of your head draining your mental energy and focus. And that’s a prescription for a jam-packed schedule and severe headache.
To avoid that you should have a little brainstorming session to identify all these admin types of tasks that you need to get done but you’ve been avoiding. Then create a life admin day to-do list and schedule a day, an hour, or even a couple of minutes to get all these boring stuff done. Once you’ve got all these things done, you will be proud of yourself.
- What is something you have been procrastinating about for a while to do?
- What tasks are making you delay completing them?
- What things from your to-do list you’ve been putting off?
- What tasks around your house you’ve been avoiding?
- What errands you need to get done but you’ve never felt like doing?
