Time Alone During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Before the Pandemic hit, most of us could hardly find time in the day to rest, not to mention having a life outside work. We were always on the run, desperately trying to manage our busy schedules completely neglecting the most important things in our lives – our health, our family, our friends and our relationship with ourselves. Everything was the top priority except our health and wellbeing. Not to mention spending time alone in the safety of our homes… Well, that was rare.

With the coronavirus outbreak became a pandemic everything changed. Half the world has been put on total lockdown and most of the people have been ordered to stay indoors. When the Italian government has decided to impose a nationwide lockdown I remember my friend saying: Social isolation will be much easier to handle for introverts, whereas extraverts will have a hard time to accept this new reality. Well, I am a self-proclaimed introvert that works from home and as far as I don’t mind spending most of the time alone at home working, I must admit that there were days when I felt extremely lonely and isolated. And because of the lockdown rules imposed by the Italian government, I couldn’t just go outside and meet my friends. Not to mention that I haven’t seen my brother for a few months now because he lives abroad…

Anyways, what I want to say is that no matter if you describe yourself as an extrovert, an introvert or ambivert accepting this new reality, or the “new normal” as some call it, it really hard. We’re not used to spending that much time at home alone. That’s why it is so important to have a plan in place so that you will be able to make the most of your time alone. That’s why in today’s post I decided to share with you 10 creative, fun and rapturous ways to enjoy your “me time”. So without further ado, let’s dive in!

1. Get Organized

If you ask me, one of the best ways to spend quality “me time” is to improve your organisational skills. I know that this tip may seem a bit odd especially for those who are not organisational freaks like I am. However, there are so many life-changing benefits of being organized and well put together person that even the messiest and disorganized individuals may want to change their minds.

First of all, being organized increase your productivity and performance throughout the day. Second, staying organized makes life easier in the long run because you have a clear sense of what’s important, you have your priorities straight and you make better use of your time. Another great advantage of being seriously organized is that you have more free time that you can dedicate to relaxing, recharging your batteries and cultivating your hobby. So as you can see it pays to be a well-organized person. That is why I highly recommend you to dedicate some of your time alone to improve your organizational skills.

2. Rediscover Yourself

We live in an extremely busy, overly chaotic world where people rush around, tight deadlines need to be met, everything is the number one priority, things need to be done yesterday and if that weren’t enough multitasking, which by the way doesn’t work, is often seen as the holy grail of professional and personal skills. We travel through life faster than than the speed of life. Well, no wonder why most of us when asked about personal values, passions and purpose we have no idea how to respond. Maybe it’s time to slow down a bit and dedicate some time to reflect and discover who you really are? Because the truth is if you want to choose the right path in life you need to discover who you really are. Without knowing your true self you will not be able to act in alignment with your true life purpose. Which is why you should embark on your journey of self-discovery and to help you with that here are some fun, interesting and unexpected questions to self-exploration you can ask yourself during your time alone.

Self-Discovery Questions To Ask Yourself

3. Educate Yourself

Today’s society places a lot of emphasis on formal education, which, in and of itself, is a great thing. At the same time, however, we should not underestimate the importance of self-education. Because while earning a degree will certainly advance your career, we should not forget that formal education is strictly limited to specific knowledge, skills and abilities. As for the autodidactism, the benefits go beyond career advancement. I mean, self-directed learning is a lifestyle, an acquired ability to manage your energy, create motivation, master your self-discipline and manage your time wisely. And as we all know, the reward comes from dedication, hard work, passion. So, if you want to be successful in life, you’ll need to dedicate yourself to lifelong learning. And what better time to practice the art of self-education if not your “me time”, right? And to help you with that you here is my absolutely favourite online resource for self-education - SKILLSHARE

4. Indulge In Self-Care

Most of us are aware of the importance of regular self-care practise but when it comes to dedicating time for that, we are too busy with work and stuff. Our schedules are jam-packed with things that were due yesterday. Our brains are overload by information, obligations and more responsibilities that they can keep with. We eat in a hurry, we postpone whole-family meetings, we sacrifice our sleep to accomplish more during the workday, we talk through messages, we listening to an audiobook instead of reading a physical book and we wait for early retirement to start enjoying life. Completely insane, but we continue to live this way even though, we know full well that this busy hectic lifestyle makes us overly stressed or even sick. Maybe it’s time to break free from this negative life pattern and start treating yourself like someone you love by beginning to practice self-care? If you’re ready to indulge in a bit of self-care I highly recommend you Self-Care Mini Bundle you can get here. 5. Boost Your Mood

Social distancing, quarantines, and isolation during the Coronavirus pandemic is quite challenging, to say the least. In these difficult times is so easy to engage in negative thinking and obsess over worst-case scenarios, but it’s not how you maintain good health and boost your mood. I know that watching news 24/7 can be quite tempting but it will make you feel depressed, hopeless and extremely overwhelmed in the long run. So instead of dedicating your free time to watch mainstream media, you should take care of your physical health and mental wellbeing. It’s time to improve your lifestyle! And to help you with that here are top 10 healthy living resources that you can grab right now.

6. Unlock Your Creative Potential

Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” I don’t know about you, but I personally think that this is the best description of human potential. Such a shame that most of the people tend to forget about that. So they focus on increasing their intelligence completely forgetting to channel their creative side. And as a result, they unwittingly deprive themselves of joy, happiness and bliss. If you ask me, I do think that such an approach causes an enormous loss for both society and the individual. Just think of how many invention ideas would be already turned into life-changing products if only people started to realize their true potential. So if you feel that you are destined for greatness you should start engaging in activities that nourish your creative side. It’s time to tap into your inner self and bring out your artistic side. And to help you with that, I’ve listed below some fun ways to fire up that creative spark.

7. Live In The Moment

Most people wait for the perfect moment to start being grateful, working towards their dreams and just enjoy their lives. So instead of living in the moment, taking advantage of the current situation and creating opportunities to grow they wait. They wait for things to happen to them without even realizing that they waste their time, energy and potential. They wait for a perfect moment to start living their lives.

But the truth is, “Life is not always perfect. Like a road, it has many bends, ups and downs, but that’s its beauty.” But to see this beauty you need to start learning to appreciate what you have and stop wanting more. And more importantly, you need to stop waiting for things to happen to you.

Because if you want to be happy you need to take responsibility for your own experience and become an active participant in your own life. It’s time to begin to live in the present moment and start appreciating what you have already. You can use your time alone to write down everything you are grateful for and put those notes in your gratitude jar!

8. Solo Date - Give Yourself Some Love

When was the last time you took yourself on a date? Bet you can’t even remember. It’s funny how most of us would spend a lot of time, money and effort to plan and organize a perfect date night to impress that special someone, whilst we completely forget to nurture our self-relationship. That’s insane! Especially when you realize that the most important person to please is yourself. I’m not saying to neglect the people who are important in your life, obviously not, the ones who truly love you will always be there for you. But the truth is there is only one person you will spend your whole life with, and that is yourself. That’s why you should start treating yourself like someone you love.

Developing a strong, positive and healthy relationship with yourself might take some time, but it’s worth the effort. Why is it so important? Well, because the relationship you create with yourself determines everything in your life. It is not only crucial for your own health and wellbeing but it also sets the tone for every other relationship you have. That is why, if you want to take good care of others you should start taking care of yourself. And what better way to do that if not by creating a new tradition of dating yourself? In other words, it’s time to show yourself a bit more self-love by taking yourself on a fun, captivating, and enjoyable solo date!

9. Get Cultured

When was the last time you visited a museum or an art gallery? I know it’s an odd question to ask during the Coronavirus pandemic when all the cultural institutions such as museums, archives, galleries, libraries, theatres and heritage sites are temporarily closed. I get it. However, I don’t know if you know this, but many cultural institutions and organizations that have been forced to closed due to COVID-19 outbreak are now offering the opportunity to visit them virtually. Isn’t that great?! In other words, you can take a virtual museum and gallery tour of some of the world’s greatest collections from the comfort of your couch. Now, with that being said, are you ready to virtually explore the world’s greatest attractions and become more cultured without leaving your house? If your answer is yes, check out the best virtual museum and art gallery tours here, here here or here

10. Manage Your Personal Finances

What many people don’t know is that their financial situation directly impacts their physical health and mental wellbeing. They think that they can live a healthy, happy and balanced life without taking good care of their finances. So instead of setting smart financial goals, creating an emergency fund and save for the future the mindlessly use multiple credit cards without even realizing how much money they actually spend. That’s completely insane! Whether we like it or not, we are living in a capitalist world and money does affect the most important things in life. So even though, money can’t buy happiness, you cannot live a happy, healthy and prosperous life if you are completely broke. That is why you should take care of your financial health, evaluate your current financial situation, set smart financial goals and start improving your financial situation so that you can go after the life you want. Money is a powerful tool to reach your goals so start treating it as such. Today, more than ever, we should all focus on developing our financial intelligence and growing our wealth. That’s why I am sharing with you financial apps, tools and services I swear by that you can use to improve your financial health today.
