I’ll take a guess and say one of your New Year’s resolutions was to live a healthier lifestyle. If I am right, it’s not because I am a telepath but because most of us make that promise to ourselves at the beginning of the New Year. 

The thing is making promises is pretty simple but keeping them is a whole other thing. Keeping and delivering on your promises requires self-discipline, hard work, dedication, the right attitude and inner integrity. Sounds complicated, In practice, however, refreshingly simple. Because the truth is you can improve the quality of your life immediately, but only if you really want to. You need to be open to making healthy changes in your life that will make you healthier, happier and more successful.

5. Discover The Benefits Of Mindfulness Meditation

According to the results of scientific research carried out by Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School people who meditated over an eight-week period had a striking change in the expression of 172 genes that regulate inflammation, circadian rhythms and glucose metabolism. But that’s not all, because the researchers also found meditation helpful for relieving symptoms of depression, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, post-traumatic stress disorder. 

I’ve been meditating daily for 2 years. My first meditation experience that I can remember was when my dad was diagnosed with ALS and I needed a healthy way to manage anxiety and control mental pain. I didn’t really know how to meditate and what’s the perfect practice so I started with a guided meditation that I found on Youtube. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Now, in retrospect, I know that practising Mindfulness meditation daily has saved my life, saved my sanity and helped me to recover from complicated grief. And honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. So if you have never tried Mindfulness meditation, it’s definitely time to step out of your comfort zone and see what meditation has to offer. 

If you’re not into meditating don’t force yourself to meditate. You want to find an activity that could help you forge a deeper connection to yourself. You don’t have to meditate to be happier, healthier and more successful. 

There are plenty of things you can do to increase your self-awareness and develop your potential and Mindfulness meditation is “only” one of them. You can start your days with a morning prayer or start practising intermittent silence. “Find what works for you and exploit it”!

6. Practice Being Intentional

Living an intentional life means being proactive, using your inner power to create the reality you want and making conscious decisions and deliberate choices to ensure that you are going in the right direction. Because every second of your life you choose what to focus on. You may not be aware of this, but everything you do, think or say is solely the result of your conscious individual choice.

To control your life and become the master of your fate, you need to control what you pay attention to. That is why, if you constantly focus on what’s missing from your life and what went wrong in the past you will feel powerless, hopeless and depressed. But if you consciously redirect your thoughts on the things that you are grateful for and the difference you can make your entire life will improve immediately.

“Focus equals power” and living with intention is, without doubt, is the easiest way to use this power to turn your life into a masterpiece. So stop wasting your time, energy and attention on things that don’t bring value to your life and focus on what’s truly matters. Make a focused list of what you want to achieve, experience and do in 2021 and plan on how you’re going to accomplish that. Be specific. Be intentional. Control your focus and become the master of your fate.  

 

7. Find Your Purpose & Live With Alignment

The next healthy lifestyle habit to develop is to live in alignment with your life purpose. The reason for that is quite simple: living in alignment with your purpose means cultivating a strong sense of yourself, setting goals that align with your values and creating your own happiness. In other words, finding and living in alignment with your inner purpose is the key to living your best life. 

Living a purpose-driven life will make you more capable of pursuing ambitious goals, building meaningful relationships, facing life challenges and creating opportunities for personal growth. Not to mention that it will help you to save more energy and stay focused on what’s truly important for you.

On the contrary, if you don’t know what is the purpose of your life, finding a legitimate reason to even get out of bed can be a tough thing to do. So, if you’re struggling to break from the fog of not wanting to get out of bed in the morning you should ask yourself these important questions:

  • What makes me come alive?
  • What do I want to experience during my lifetime?
  •  What are my strengths and hidden talents?
  • What makes me forget about the world around me?
  • What motivates me to work hard?
  • What am I passionate about?
  • How can I make this world a better place?
 

8. Quality Rest On A Regular Schedule

We all know that getting quality sleep on a regular basis is crucial for maintaining good health, and yet we continue to sacrifice our sleep to accomplish more during our workday. But the truth is, reducing your sleep hours to get more things done, just does the opposite. Because no matter how hard you try you cannot be highly productive, mentally focused and motivated to work hard towards your goals if you are sleep deprived. It just doesn’t work that way. Not to mention maintaining good health. Getting quality sleep on a regular basis plays a critical role in staying healthy, building a strong immune system and enjoying life. 

According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night to feel well-rested and maintain good health. So if you have trouble sleeping on a regular basis, it’s a good idea to address this problem. Perhaps all you need is to create a healthy night routine. 9. Improve Your Internal Dialogue

Positive self-talk is a powerful tool for increasing your self-confidence, hacking your happiness, improve your problem-solving skills, and motivating yourself to achieve your goals. So, if you’ve been talking to yourself in a nasty, unpleasant, and unfriendly way, now it’s time to change this and improve your inner dialogue. 

The way you speak to yourself truly matters. Because, first of all, you are listening. Second, you probably believe everything you tell yourself, especially the negative stuff. Because for some reason, the bad stuff is easier to believe. 

And the third reason why your self-talk is extremely important is that you create your own reality with the power of your thoughts, words and actions. Because you think in terms of how you feel and you act based on your current mental state. That’s why when you constantly telling yourself that you can achieve something you probably won’t. But if you reprogram your mind to be positive your chances for success will increase dramatically. And if things don’t go as planned you you’ll find a way through.

Make practicing positive self-talk your daily habit, pay attention to the tone of your inner dialogue and make sure to take 5 to 10 minutes every day to say out loud and write down positive affirmations.

10. Start Saving Money

Most people are completely unaware that their financial situation directly impacts their physical health and mental wellbeing. They think that they can live a healthy, happy and balanced life without taking good care of their finances. So instead of setting smart financial goals, creating an emergency fund and save for the future, they spend money like there’s no tomorrow using multiple credit cards without even realizing how much money they actually spend. That’s completely insane!

Whether we like it or not, money affects the most important things in life. Money can’t buy happiness because life satisfaction and contentment are built on achievement. We are happy when we progress with our life, turn our dreams into realities and invest in quality time with the people you care about. And none of these things can be bought. 

But it is also true that money helps us to achieve our goals, create meaningful experiences for our loved ones and secure our and our family’s future. Not to mention that money can open door to opportunities you didn’t have before. For instance, if you’re struggling financially you cannot afford higher education, you’re not able to travel and you can probably forget about major medical insurance. All of these “can’t” causes a lot of stress, anxiety and FOMO.
